AP Biology is the equivalent of a freshman-level collegiate general biology course. The course is organized based on four big ideas.Big Idea I: The process of evolution drives the diversity and unity of life.
Big Idea II: Biological systems utilize free energy and molecular building blocks to grow, to reproduce and to maintain dynamic homeostasis.
Big Idea III: Living systems store, retrieve, transmit and respond to information essential to life processes.
Big idea IV: Biological systems interact, and these systems and their interactions possess complex properties. The course is not merely developed for students who intend to take AP biology exam. Any student who is interested in biological phenomena and mechanisms will harvest a lot through this course. This course will cover some aspects of general biology, including molecual biology, genetics, evolution and ecology. In this semester, we will discuss orign of life, natural selection types, replication and translation of genetic information, molecular biotechnologies and ecological interactions.
