AP Human Geography

INTRODUCTION:

The purpose of the Human Geography course is to introduce students to the systematic study of patterns and processes that have shaped human understanding,use, and alteration of Earth's surface. Students learn to employ spatial concepts and landscape analysis to examine human socioeconomic organization and its environmental consequences. They also learn about the methods and tools geographers use in their research and applications.

This course can help you deepen your understanding to basic principles of Human Geography and broaden your eyes.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

1. Perspectives of Geography.

2. Population geography.

3. Cultural patterns and processes.

4. Political organization of space.

5. Agriculture and rural land use.

6. Industrialization and economic development.

7. Cities and urban land use.

The course teaches skills of:

1. The use of landscape analysis to examine human organization of space.

2. The spatial relationships at different scales ranging from the local to the global.

3. How to use and interpret maps and spatial data.

4. How to use and interpret geographical models.
